The Carmel Valley Gem and Mineral Society is a non-profit, educational organization dedicated to promoting the study of mineralogy and geology; to encourage the collecting of specimens and the practice of the lapidary arts; to promote field excursions to mineral locations and further the education of all.
CVGMS is a group of individuals with a common interest in the various aspects of the earth sciences and lapidary arts as applied to minerals and fossils and gems and jewelry. CVGMS was formed in 1954 as a California corporation meeting originally in Carmel Valley, California. Meetings were also held in Carmel and Monterey until a relationship was established with the Pacific Grove Museum of Natural history where the members currently meet monthly. Member meetings are open to the public.
Our meetings are held at the Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History, (click here to go to the museum).

Our next meeting will be April 12, 2024. The museum will be celebrating Dino Day on March 30! We will be making Gem Trees at our meeting. It is a fun hands on project. We are looking forward to our May Program speaker, Mike Humenik from the Santa Cruz rock club. He will be presenting a program on meteorites. Here is an interesting article about a local Jade guy, Justin Barrett. Dues are due and will be collected at the meeting. Our meetings are on the second Friday of every month at 7:00 pm, except in June and December, located at The Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History, 165 Forest Avenue, Pacific Grove, CA 93950.
Membership dues are $15.00 for a single & $20.00 for a couple
